Gipsy Geezers

Music & lyrics: Silvano Ancellotti

Tune: The Arses of the Lasses (Lorenzo Testa)

This one is about travelling and finding a place in the world which is not necessarily a physical spot. The more I rove the more I find roads to explore, the more I move the more I want to go. Every trip left a mark and every experience shaped me a bit me more into the person I am today.

Don’t mind the tempest
Don’t fear the winds
Don’t trust the ones that tell you
They’ve never been weak
We got barrels full of porter
We got no rest
We won’t shut up
Far from home, out in the dark
We are the gipsy geezers

Every town has its heart, let me tell you this
Every city got a buzzing, once-off sound
I’ve been out there myself and I hardly felt alone,
On a packed London lane like on a Finnish misty shore
On solitary strolls hit by early rays of light
On those evening crawls through flashing streets
I get drinks in every pub, I got drunk more than twice
I got my knees full of bruises but nothing to regret

Don’t mind the tempest
Don’t fear the winds
Don’t trust the ones that tell you
They’ve never been weak
We got barrels full of porter
We got no rest but we won’t shut up
Far from home, out in the dark
We are the gipsy geezers

I’ve been traveling up and down chasing dreams on twisty roads
Kissing them away every time they were getting close
I’ve been waiting in Soho Square on a rainy long, long night
And I counted one by one all the Burren crispy stones
I’ve been silver, sometimes gold but I found it out too late,
With a bag and few good pals I caught trains and I missed planes
Dusting off my hat, toasting up another pint
I made a way to turn my life into a never-ending rove
